Joan Rivers: A legend Never Forgotten

Joan Rivers: A Legend Never Forgotten

Joan Rivers was born on June 8, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York. Her birth name is Joan Alexandra Molinsky. She loved the city of New York, especially Broadway. She was not only an avid show attender, she allow also put on quite a show herself as a comedian and fashion critic. When I myself hear the name Joan Rivers the first thing that comes to mind is plastic surgery. Which she always openly addressed, saying “it takes a lot of money to look this bad”. I always admired her for being able to poke fun at herself along with everyone else in the Hollywood biz. There are not many actors, comedians, or celebrities that can dish out just as much if not more about themselves then about anyone else. She truly had a great sense of humor, she could awkward situation in to something you simply could not stop laughing about. She had a gift like no one before her.

I remember sitting on the couch and watching Joan Rivers interviewing all the stars as they walked the red carpet at the Academy Awards Show, my favorite television event of the year. I also recall her the next day of the fashion police ripping after every actress with a terrible hideous dress. Fashion police was and still is to this day one of my favorite shows to watch. Although I know that now that Joan is gone the show will never be the same. Joan was so extremely fun that I recall once when she was addressing Uma Thurman’s heinous Oscar gown in 2004. She ripped her to shreds so badly I nearly pissed my pants. She quickly became the most critical and vicious fashion critics in the world of Hollywood. I cannot for the life of me think of a celebrity in Hollywood she at some point in her life did not bash for one thing or any other. She got so mean at points you didn’t even want to laugh, but you had to. Rarely were her outrageous comments taken personally, some seeing it as an honor, it was just Joan “doing her thing”.  Her trademark “Can we talk?!” always set up whatever celeb she planned on defacing for the day.

While Joan was seen by some to be a very cruel and rude woman she did have soft spot. She always made sure to donate to her favorite charities and kept the public laughing. She inspired many comedians who will keep us laughing through our morning for her and for years to come. I truly believe she was a comedic gift to this world, who kept spirts light even in the darkest of times. She will greatly be missed by myself and others for years to come. RIP the Great and Powerful Joan Rivers. Gone but NEVER forgotten.
