Bittersweet Symphony, The Verve

So I am not one to pick favorites when it comes to anything. Movies, books, songs, or anything really. But, I do have to say, that if someone asked me, gun to my head what my favorite song in the entire world and galaxy, I would have to pick Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve. The slow, intense beat alone will hook you instantly. It's like a song I have never heard before. The music for it is so simply that it makes it that much more beautiful. For me I'm not about all the big guitar riffs and crazy drum solos, don't get me wrong the stuff is super sweet and I applaud the talented musicians who pull these solos off. I'm just saying while all that is super cool and impressive I prefer something slower, something with a killer rhythm and beat, and of course a song with the incredibly powerful lyrics that almost bring you to tears even after you have heard the song  five-thousand times is even better. I prefer a song like Bittersweet Symphony, it has all of those things and so much more. It's a song that helped me when I was down, not sure why because its kind of depressing, but aren't most great songs kind of terribly sad or depressing? At least all the one I like are, maybe that's just me. The point is if you haven't listened to this amazingly, awesome, spectacular, killer song, first off you have been living under a rock for 10 years and second off you are crazyyyy! Do it now!!!!!

For me this song personally means a lot. Although it didn't come out when my parents were getting divorced, it still helped me a lot during this difficult time. That sounds weird I know, you are thinking bro this is a super depressing song to listen to again during that time, but I don't know at the time I didn't see it that way, I saw it has an uplifting kind of song. Don't ask me why because I go back now and realize how truly depressing it is but I mean maybe it helped me because I'm sorry to say it but It is the ugly truth. With lines like " you're a slave to money than you die." you know that sounds awful but think about it, I mean that is very true. Money often takes over people's lives, sucking them in, making them think that is the only way they can be happy. I know from experience that money is not the only thing you need to be happy, though it does help. Point is this a killer, well-written, and beautifully performed song that helped me a lot when going through a tough time and it could do the same for you, so check it out.

High School Never Ends, Bowling for Soup

The title of this sweet song with a simply catchy rhythm is pretty self explanatory. High School Never ends is by a somewhat well known band called Bowling for Soup. The band somehow perfectly describes that terrible experience of high school and how it never seems to end, no matter how old you are. Some disagree with the words of the song while others like me completely agree and are sad to admit that high school does in fact never end. I mean think about it you grow up, you graduate you go to college which is basically high school with more alcohol and sex and less bullies, but still as many assholes. After that you go out and get a "real job" and at this real job it still seem to matter who you are friends with, what kind of car you drive, and whose having sex. All of these thing being lines taken directly from the song and all stand to be true at least in the cases I have experienced. Some people love the fact that high school never seems to end in some sense at least. Others like me dread this because let's face it high school blows.
"Reese Witherspoon,
 She’s the prom queen
 Bill Gates,
 Captain of the chess team
 Jack Black, the clown
 Brad Pitt, the quarterback
 I’ve seen it all before
 I want my money back"
these lyrics happen to stand out the most to me because let's face it all of those things are probably true. Me to this is just yet another way to show that high school does in fact, sadly, never end. Now I am not saying that just because you were a loser in high school means that what you will be the rest of your life. I mean look at Bill Gates, I bet he didn't have all the ladies and a cool car, but he sure does now. Now he has more money then he knows what to do with. I want to have that kind of life after high school, let's be honest.
I am not going to be one of those who comes back after high school and brags about how perfect their life is now and how much money they make. I won't gloat or brag, ok maybe I will brag a a little :) but as far as tho killer song goes it is almost always true and is definitely one of my favorite throwbacks to early 2000's and like I said super fun to play on the guitar! Listen to it now if you haven't yet!

Damn, Jamie Lynn...

Damn, Jamie Lynn...

Earlier this week sister of pop star princess, Britney Spears, Jamie Lynn showed what she's got by breaking up a fight before grabbing some grub at a Pita Pit in LA. If you have the time I suggest you go check out this beautiful security camera piece of art of Jamie Lynn running behind the counter to grab a rather large knife for a tiny lady, and proceed to break up the fight. TMZ released the video, and I'll say it again, go check it out, it's beyond worth it.

Now, here's what's sort of running through my head when I watch this video... Jamie, my dear girl, what the hell are you thinking?? You are a mother for heavens sake, you can't be jumping into a fight with a knife, it's too dangerous. What if your knife came face to face with someones gun. Who's going to win that battle? Let me give you a hint... Not you, Jamie. And even though you're not as famous as your sister, that doesn't mean that's going to stop them from hurting you. Fame or fortune doesn't matter when it comes to people who are out to hurt others.

So, here's my question to you blogger world... did Jamie Lynn, tiny, young blonde, do the right thing by jumping in the break up this fight? Or was it pure stupidity when she has a young child at home to take care of? Here's what I think, stay out of it. You have a child, they need you, don't put yourself in harms way unless it is threatening the life of your child. Then, pull a knife, gun, whatever to protect your child, but just stand back when it comes to fights you have nothing to do with. I can guarantee you if the person I am with now heard I jumped in on a fight with a knife, and we had a child, she would be downright pissed. Then again, my lady is quite the protector. But still, I'm not sure I would jump in. Now, if I didn't have a child, maybe I would try to break it up, but even then, I would fear a little for my life. Maybe calling the police would be a better choice. Or maybe she did the right thing here, maybe too many of us stand back and don't do anything which leads to murders, raping, and other horrible situations.

So, either way, right or wrong, Ms. Jamie Lynn, I'm impressed by you, I think you're stupid, but impressed that you weren't afraid to get a little dirty and jump in to help someone out. Next time though, just be a little more careful.

Christmas Music in November

Christmas Music in November

Okay, let's get a few things straight here (not me, obviously... Hope I made you chuckle there) Christmas is in December, NOT November. So, riddle me this blogger world, why is it when I flip through radio stations on my way to school I hear the piercing sound of Christmas music pumping through my speakers? Now, I would understand if people were all about early Christmas music, but I have never once heard someone say, "I wish they would start playing their holiday music just a little sooner." So what the hell KDAT?!? That's right, I'm calling you out specifically.
Don't get me wrong, KDAT has gotten better. One year, they started playing it the beginning of November and well, the learned their lesson on that one, but let's keep learning, okay. No one wants to hear it 24/7, period.
Now, you may be wondering why I'm so angry. "Maddy, there are other stations you can listen to." And you're right, there are. But, I also like to get my fix of Pat Bennitar and the occasional Dixy Chicks song. Judge me, I dare you.
I simply get tired if Christmas being a holiday that pretty much starts in October now. I mean, how long until we say screw it and make it year round? I give that idea about 5 years. So, remember to refer to this blog in about five years.
Maybe I'm a grinch or maybe I have common sense and an ear for decent music, but whichever it may be, chill out with the Christmas music already. And that goes for retail stores too. Enough is enough. I don't need jingle bells blasting through the store while I'm picking up eggs.
Merry Christmas, and remember, we can love the holidays without Christmas music in November.

Stacey's Mom, Fountaians of Wayne

Everyone can hear the song "Stacey's Mom" come on and immediately start singing along. Whether or not they agree with the lyrics is a little different. The words can come off a little inappropriate, with lyrics like "But since your dad walked out, your mom could use a guy like me" many did not approve of what the song was saying. Many would consider it a little inappropriate for a teenage boy to be in love with a middle-aged women, but in my opinion to each his own. If the writer of the song or the kid the songwriter is talking about is really in love with this woman than so be it. love is love. you don't chose who you fall in love with, I mean this kid probably wishes he loved someone his own age. Plus chances are that this classy woman isn't going to give him the time of day anyway.

Now enough about the meaning of the song, lets talk about the crazy sweet rhythms and of course that killer hook that has you singing this inappropriate early 2000's all day long. The guitar in the song in super simply, besides of course the mid song guitar solo which is full of riffs and are kinds of sick cords. Other than that the guitar is super simply and is actually one of the first songs I learned to play on the guitar, consisting of mainly A, B, and E chords. these being some of the most simply, makes this a fun and exciting first song to  learn.

The tune of the song is catchy and if I may say so myself incredibly dancy. Teens across the country were screaming the lyrics to this song in the early 2000's, and now these those teens who are now adults still feel the excitement of being at a middle school dance whenever the infamous song begins.

Fountains of Wayne were a short lived popular band, with having one major hit. They paved the way though for many of the pop/punk/rock bands of that era. More bands were beginning to take on that teenage, lovesick sound making it skyrocket on the charts. Today, many of these bands are in their 40's raising families and sometimes reuniting with their former band mates to relive their good ol' days.

As for me, I'm sure Stacy's mom did have it going on, and I probably would have been singing the same song as these guys of this woman really looked and acted as she did. Stacy's mom... Such a tease... I'm still waiting on Stacy's mom.

Take Me to Church, Hozier

Take me to Church by Hozier is not just crazy good song with a great rhythm and variety. It is a song that tells a painful sad but well written story. When first listening to the song, the lyrics are rather confusing. Singer and songwriter wrote the beautiful piece it was clear he wanted the message to be something you had to think about. A song you had to search for the meaning of. The song contains and large amount of symbolism and imagery. The lyric "Drain the Whole Sea, get something shiny, something meaty for the main course, that a fine looking high horse." stands out to me because obliviously he isn't really referencing  to sea or fine horses, the meaning is deeper. To me the sea represents draining everything that you are for the person you love giving them that "something shiny" (your love) but also "something meaty" (day to day love for them). The song has such a deeper meaning then  just the words sung by the amazing Hozier himself.

Intense. If you have seen the music video to this amazing so g you know what I'm talking about when I say intense. And if you haven't seen it, I suggest you check it out because it has a great message with an ending that will keep your jaw dropped for at least a few seconds. Here's a link to it if you are interested.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MYSVMgRr6pw
To sum it but it is basically the story of two gay men who get caught being together by the leader of some kind of cult against gays. Being gay myself this video hit home and made me incredibly sad. Sad because I know that stuff like this does happen. I know that no matter how far our society comes, there will also be those people ripping us down, trying to take us back to the dark ages. The video is moving and equally as spectacle as the song itself. You are have not check out either make sure you do so as soon as possibly can. Get those little thumbs typing and spread the message this amazing song relays to you. Spread it to all those close minded people and show them that love is LOVE and that the only thing keeping them from realizing that is fear. Fear of someone who isn't exactly like you. Teach those fearful people that no matter your age, gender,  or ethnicity, it's all the same love. Spread the word.

Thanksgiving... What's That?

Thanksgiving... What's That?

It's that time if year again. Halloween is fast approaching, my favorite holiday for anyone who was wondering, and it's my favorite for multiple reasons. But, that's not the point, the point is, fall is best time of year. The leaves turn, the air is crisper, the smell of fall, the feel of fall, the look of fall is amazing. But it's a bummer it doesn't last very long. I mean we go from warm Labor Day, to the chilliness of Halloween straight into... Christmas. That's right, I said Halloween to Christmas. It's true and you know it.

Where in the world did thanksgiving go? Why do we just totally leave out the month of November in general? I mean I know I'm not your typical girl who is all about the holidays. Don't get me wrong, they're fun, but I could do without them. But if we have these holidays, let's do it right. Let's celebrate Halloween in the month of October. Celebrate Thanksgiving in November and then Christmas in December. Instead of starting to celebrate these months three months before they are even here. I mean, if we are going to do that, then I'm going to start celebrating St. Patrick's Day the entire month of February and then all or March. Hell, I might continue celebrating St. Pats day into April.

Anyway, I'm just tired of seeing Christmas trees the day after Halloween. Well, actually some places have them up now. Sam's Club has had Christmas trees up all October long! I'm tired of walking into a store on November 1st and hearing "Jingle All the Way". Personally I can't handle this, so I just pretend it's not happening.

On top of Christmas getting in the way of Thanksgiving now we have stores opening their doors for Black Friday on Thursday, Thanksgiving day! Let some of these people enjoy their family time. I'm not just talking consumers, think about your workers. Let's not open on Thanksgiving at 5pm, that's just not ok. Since when did purchasing an over priced gift that your grandma is going to store in the closet anyway, become more important than actually spending time with her. I mean really, I know I'm not a big Holiday person, but have some respect and hold off on shopping and spend time with family. You can shop anytime, family doesn't live forever.

So, good job society! You win, next let's make Christmas almost year round! Hope you enjoy it. Now, I need to find where I put my earplugs so I have them for the unstop Christmas music.

There's Always Next Year to Take the Crown...

There's Always Next Year to Take the Crown...

The Kansas City Royals fought long and hard, but it still didn't seem to cut it in the final game of the 2014 World Series. Kansas City went back and fourth with the San Francisco Giants, losing the lead, tiring it up and then taking the lead, only to lose it in the end.

Let's g ahead and say the Royals have played the best they ever have... Ever. Even better than the 1985 World Series team. It came down to the wire. One out left, bottom of the 9th, one out left before the Giants take the title. Alex Gordon is up to bat. The fans hold their breath for the 2014 George Brett of the the team. Gordon makes contact and hit a triple. The outfield fumbles a tad and the Royals have a chance. Should Gordon have gone home... Yes, but we can't go back in time. Up next Salvedor Prez. Earlier in the game, Salvy was beamed with a 90 mile an hour ball. It's do or die now. All Salvy has to do is get Gordon home. Tie up the game to go into extra innings. A few pitches, a few fouls. This is it. Salvy swings, makes connection... Out. The Giants storm the field as though their life is now complete. Even though they have won 4 time within the last 10 years.

The Royals say congratulations to the Giants by turning the fountains orange for the remainder of the stadium being open that evening. Kansas City fans leave the stadium with the a slight sadness, but they leave with pride too, a sense that we should be proud that we had made it that far.

The underdogs for many years, finally came through and almost took the crown. We are proud of our team and our boys. And you know what, there is always next year. And I tell you, that team is going to come back even more fired up than before. They know they have it in them and they will be even more determined to show the world that they can be the champions of Major League Baseball.

So, be proud boys, be proud Kansas City, be proud fans all over America. And congrats to the Giants, you played well and hard, and in the end, it was a fair, good series. But, We showed the world that we are still strong and we won't back down. See you next year baseball season. I know I'll be ready to take the crown.

Size 10 is Plus Sized? Really Calvin Klein?

Plus sized, huh?

We all see it everyday, magazine ads, commercials, billboards, the tall stick, thin girl sporting either the latest in underwear trends, or what's fashionable at the time. As women, we strive to look like what those women look like in the magazine ads. But many of us will never achieve that unhealthy image of what beauty is "supposed" to be by society.

Calvin Klein recently introduced a new line of clothes called the Perfect Fit line, which features a model that is a size 10. Now, while size 10 is commonly referred to as plus sized in the fashion industry, Klein never once calls the line a plus sized line and in fact model Myla Dalbesio, says she supports the line. She says she has never once been referred to as a plus size model in this line and was placed in with girls of all shapes and sizes. Dalbesio even calls the line groundbreaking, stating that there aren't many places in the modeling world for size 10 girls.

Now, even though Calvin Klein doesn't come out and call her a plus sized model, that is essentially what is happening. They created a line for larger (what is actually average sized women) and put her in the ads. I find it interesting with such a larger percentage of the United States being over-weight or obese, that the fashion industry still reaches out to only those who are anorexic thin. They are still placing images in your girls' heads that they need to look a certain way in order to be pretty. It's unfortunate really.

Everyone, even men struggle with self image, and nothing seems to be changing. Companies think that if they introduce a new line for "plus sized" it will help, well in reality, it makes people feel worse about themselves. Because these "plus sizes" are normal sizes. Woman have curves, they aren't going to fit into a something made for a model with no meat on her bones. And the same goes for men, not all men are built in a V shape.

As far as the Calvin Klein ad, they're trying I guess, and you can't be mad at them for that. We need to be upset with the industry as a whole, and take a look at what we're teaching the youth. Well, we know what we are teaching them, let's try to fix it.

Jenner and The Gentleman

Another Kardashian report coming your way. Kylie Jenner sure has been stirring up a lot of talk now that she is in her mid teens. Now reports of the  17 year old Jenner is dating 24 year old celebrity, Tyga. The two have been spotted traveling together and spending time together whenever possible.

Now we all know at least on of the older sisters had to put her nose into the situation, and Kim was the first. It is reported that Kim does not approve of the relationship, but saying it's not because of the age.  So, try to follow me on this... Tyga had a child with a woman bed Blac Chin, who is friends with Kim. Kim says the Kylie is breaking some kind of unwritten girl code, by seeing Tyga. Oh, to be rich and famous... So, the age doesn't seem to be striking a nerve with the family. Although in October, Kris said the couple was in fact not a couple. I don't believe it.

So, I really want to know, this this relationship a big deal? Does age really matter when it comes to a relationship? It's not like she's 17 and he's 37. Here's what I have to say... No, it is not an issue at all. If this Tyga is treating Kylie right, then there is no problem what so ever. Age does not determine if a relationship can be successful or not. In fact, it all depends on the couples individual maturity level and what kind of relationship they are each looking for.

If Tyga wants to be with Kylie and Kylie want to be with him, then let them be. They're aren't hurting anyone. There are much worse things to worry about rather than look at their age and judge them. Who are we to judge? I say more power to them, and I hope the couple lasts.

Now, I don't blame the two for trying to keep their relationship under wraps for a while. I'm sure the age difference takes its toll on them, but as I stated before, it does not matter as long as it is a healthy relationship. Let them be.

So, there you go. Leave them alone to be happy, world. And as for the girl code, well, that's an issue Kim needs to discuss with her sister and figure out. Kim probably just wants to make sure we all know who she is. Don't worry, Kim, we do.

The Beautiful Renee Zellweger. Wait.... WHO'S THAT?!?!

If we all know anything about Holly wood, we know that plastic surgery has sadly become a large part of it. There isn't very many celebs in Hollywood that have had ZERO work done, whether it be on their face or any other body part. Then you have the celebs like Dolly Parton and Joan Rivers who simply in my opinion pay far too much to look that cheap. Dolly even said in an interview once "it takes a lot of money to look this cheap". The plastic surgery industry has exploded in Hollywood and too many celebs plastic surgery is just a part of life.  Personally I think as you should get older, you should look older not look like so weird plastic Barbie that cant relax it's face. Honestly I feel sorry for the people that have plastic surgery in order to "stay beautiful". I think age is beauty, those little crows feet by your eyes say you have been through good times of laughing and time of sorrow and crying. Those ages spots on your hand signify fun memories in the sun, they aren't something you should have to hid or get laser removed. They are something you should be proud of.
Even though I have made these killer arguments on why plastic surgery is unnecessary, apparently Renee Zellweger doesn't read my blog because honey have you seen her face?!? The girl that had us at hello is a whole new damn girl!!! Renee was a cute, adorable little girl next door and now its like we all moved next to the Barbie factory in Indonesia. She looks like a plastic, less hot, and appealing version of Jennifer Grey after her nose job. She looks, I don't know how else to say it awful and did I mention PLASTIC!!
The bottom line is that I believe that plastic surgery has simply gotten out of hand. I'm sorry but after seeing people's faces like Michael Jackson, Joan Rivers, and Dolly Parton how can you think that going to have someone cut open your face and rearrange it is a good idea!?! I Mean come on Celebs I know it's tempting to join the trend of paying to rearranging your face but out the money to good use! Buy a book! Give to a charity! Hell give it to me, I accept donations! But, please for the love of all that is holy do not go change your face so that people can't even recognize you and become something for me to write about in my Pop Culture blog! Be better than that! Think!

Honey, Who is That in Your Insta Photos...?

Honey, Who is That in Your Insta Photos...?

We all know how I have an undying, true love for the Kardashian clan. I love all of them equally. I even love Bruce's kids from his old ex wife. So, while I was doing my weekly search on the Kardashian clan, I ran across an interesting article regarding the up and coming younger girls. While the older three still have their faces in the spotlight, Kendall and Kylie are becoming a more popular face on the Hollywood scene. Well, little Miss Kylie was the star of this article and not in a good way.
This interesting article I found was about the wonders of Instagram and what it can do for you, and what it can do for you in the case of Kylie. Let's get right to it, honey, what are you doing? That doesn't really look like you in any of your selfies? You look like a young little, well, I'm not sure, but it doesn't look like you in those pictures. In fact, I'm no sure who that looks like. Maybe you in 20 years? Or maybe you're getting a face transplant between selfies? I don't know, but the article is right, you look completely different in your Insta pics though.
While Instagram is a wonderful thing, we are focusing too much on looking pretty in a selfie and not focusing on things that we should be. Don't get me wrong, I take my fair share of selfies too, but at least you can tell it's me in all of them. Girls are too concerned with getting the perfect angle and perfect filter, but then when you see them in person, you wonder what happened to the girl in the Insta picture.
Also, as we all know the stunning Rene Z is in the headlines for, well being not her. I'm telling you, that woman in those photos are not Bridget Jones... I don't know who that is, but wherever she is, the imposter needs to return my Rene immediately.
But in all seriousness, we need to start teaching young girls it's ok to have flaws. It's ok to not look perfect or thin in every picture because we all have off days. We all have days we look like we have been hit by a bus. But it's ok, ladies. Don't doctor yourself up.
I had someone tell me everyday how they loved my flaws, how they were beautiful, and them telling me that made me lovey self a little more. No one is perfect, and your imperfections are what make a person beautiful.
So, Kylie, honey, you're a beautiful girl as is. Don't hide behind makeup, angles and filters. You don't need them. You are amazing as is. Don't be taken in by Botox, lypo, implants and any other plastic surgery. Stay beautiful as is.

Your Sister Is Cute... That's Not My Sister

Your Sister is Cute... That's Not My Sister

Years ago, and I'm not talking the 1970's or 1980's, I mean like 18th and 19th century, babies were well, having babies. It wasn't uncommon for a 14 year old girl to be married and have children. That's what women were for. Today, teenage pregnancy is becoming a bit of a problem again. With shows like "16 and Pregnant" and "Teen Mom" young girls are finding it more acceptable to be popping out little ones with maybe hopes of becoming an MTV reality star. But, for most that isn't the case.

While scanning the interweb for something interesting to blog about this week, I can across an interesting video that I didn't quite believe at first. Title read "13 Year Old Boy Has Baby". I'm sorry, what? A 13 year, a baby himself, is having a baby?! I didn't believe it, so I clicked in the video to learn more. And there it was, a news team in the United Kingdom talking about a 13 year old boy who knocked up a 15 year old girl. While I've taken sex ed, I was questioning the possibility of this. But he did. He's a father now. What in the world is going on?!
Now, don't get me wrong, I don't have a big issue with teen pregnancy, things happen. When you're 15, 16 and 17 years old, most people are going to probably start engaging in some kind of physical activity with another person, but 13... That's a tad too young for my liking. Kissing, sure go for it, but getting a girl pregnant. I have to ask where were this kids parents through this?
So, my question to you blogger world, is this an issue we as a society need to address? Does sex ed need to come even sooner to the classroom? Or is that too young to teach about contraceptives?
My view point is torn, but leans more towards, parents need to realize kids are going to have sex, but they need to analyze when they think their child is ready. Whether I like it or not, I know one day my daughter is going to be engaging in sex, but I want to be the one who is sure she knows how to protect herself. And hopefully help her know when the time is right.
I guess I wish this young father the best, and hope he and his newborn love a happy and healthy life.

Jodi Huisentruit...

Jodi Huisentruit…

While searching for something to write about for my pop culture blog, I skimmed through E! News, TMZ and several other entertainment news sources looking for something worthwhile to even mention. While there is a lot going on in Hollywood, and there is a lot going on in the political world and much interesting things in the news, I started to think about crime. And for some unknown reason I started to think about the missing news anchor from Iowa, Jodi Huisentruit.

It’s been 19 years since the disappearance of Mason City news anchor, Huisentruit, and while she was considered dead back in May of 2001, her case remains cold and any leads to where her body might be, or who may have killed her are still wanted. Many wonder why the young, attractive anchor was abducted, but her family still has hope that one-day she will return. Many anchors from even the Cedar Rapids area remember Huisentruit and remember the fear they all felt within when their friend went missing.

So, will one of the most famous abduction cases in Iowa ever be solved? When do we let go of the past and sort of give up on looking for those who have been missing for numerous years? Murder cases go cold constantly, but should we give up on those who’s bodies we haven’t found? For some reason, I have always found this case interesting, and sometimes I feel we should bring it back to life and maybe one day find Huisentruit’s killer. There is no timeline on putting a families mind at ease, so maybe we should always be on the lookout for her abductor/possible killer. But then my mind wonders if we should focus on the more relevant cases and try to solve those that are more recent.

So, what does this have to do pop culture? Well, nothing at the moment really, but almost 20 years ago it was the talk of the nation, and still is on certain anniversary milestones. This will forever be one of the more famous cases in Iowa that will probably be forever remaining unsolved. This is just a little reminder that what may seem relevant now and very important at the moment, will one day be a very distant memory that no one cares about anymore. Joan Rivers’ death will one day mean nothing to those in pop culture, what movie was popular today, will be totally forgotten in no time. And a murder that happened yesterday that was headline news, will one day be nothing to those who once clung on to the headlines. As for Jodi, I hope one day we can lay her body to rest a proper way, and let her spirit finally be free.

Who Killed Joan?

Who Killed Joan?

Ok, we all know that the late Joan Rivers died of deprivation of oxygen to the brain, but her surviving daughter Melissa Rivers choose not to have an autopsy done on her mother. Which may be surprising to some, well, is surprising to most of us. We all know the Rivers family has more than enough money to have the procedure done, but because of Melissa’s distraught state, she decided to bypass the autopsy. Her wishes were honored because there was no evidence that there was any criminal activity involved.

So, I always like to ask you, the reader to put yourself in the situation and think about what you would have done. So, did Melissa make the right choice with her mother and not doing the autopsy? Should we maybe always wonder if something else happened in that operating room? I mean, Joan was a famous comedic icon, would someone possibly want to harm her? We’ll never know, and maybe asking these questions is ridiculous, but if it were me, I would want the piece of mind.

There are several Hollywood deaths that will forever remain unsolved, we’ll never really know the real cause of Marilyn Monroe’s death, and there will always be a conspiracy around the death of the late and great Kurt Cobain. Should it be mandatory that autopsy’s are preformed on those who are in the spotlight? I mean, when you’re in the eye of the people there is a better chance that someone might be “out to get you”. Did Courtney kill Kurt? Was Norma Jean’s death because of the Kennedy’s? Was Joan actually murdered on the operating table? We’ll never know. And even if Melissa had an autopsy preformed on her mother, it is always possible that someone could pay someone else off and make it as though it was an accident.

I honestly think that Joan was a little too old to be having all the work done she was getting, and I don’t feel there was any foul play in her death, but if I were in Melissa’s shoes I would have wanted a definite answer. But maybe that’s not the way to look at things. What good would it do to really know? I mean, she’s already gone, it’s not like an exact reason for someone’s death is going to bring them back, but maybe it can bring those morning a piece of mind.

So, there’s you daily conspiracy theory. Believe it if you want, think about it if you have the time, or ignore my rambling. Nonetheless, we all miss you, Joan.

It's Late Night Brawl with David Letterman

It’s Late Night Brawl with David Letterman

While Letterman has lost his edge over the years with his late night television show, his employees still have a little edge and fight left in them. Apparently Letterman’s cue card guy had had enough when he so politely called Letterman a mother*****r, and then later roughing up on of the writers from the show. Tony Mendez was terminated from his position after grabbing writer Bill Scheft after a petty argument that took place the day before.

So, while Letterman has lost his late night shock value, his backstage crew sure as hell haven’t los their spark. Mendez was walked out of the building and terminated. He is receiving severance pay until the end of shooting. So, my question to you out in Blogger land… was Mendez losing his cool; funny, immature, or just plain stupid? Here’s what I think in a my Top Ten list of stupid mistakes the cue card guy does…

#10. Trying to provide for you family by being a cue card holder.
#9. Holding the title of cue card holder and thinking you rule the studio.
#8. Beating up a writer… He probably makes more than you and has more power, mind you P’s and Q’s.
#7. Staying angry for more than 24 hours after someone interrupted you.
#6. You probably have messed up the cue cards more than once… just admit it.
#5. You ARE REPLACEABLE… get your head out of your behind.
#4. I’m sure messed up Dave’s coffee order before too…
#3. Being the cue card guy for Letterman.
#2. Is that all you have done with your life?
And the number one stupid mistakes the cue card guy does..
#1. Calling your boss a mother*****r to his face. Smooth move ace.

So, there you have it ladies and gentlemen, the top ten mistakes the cue card guy does. Letterman was super awesome being willing to pay him until May of 2015 and also continue his benefits. Mendez continued to say the Letterman was the best boss he had ever had. Too bad you messed that one up big time, buddy.

Now, I’m not saying that I wouldn’t lose my cool a little in certain situations, but I don’t think I would ever be able to call my boss that, no matter how much I hated him or her. But, I’m sure it’s liberating to be able to say something like that to a higher up. Maybe I should be giving this guy props instead of making fun of him. Nah, it’s easier to tease than to be nice.

Hayrack Ride Turns Truly Frightening in Maine

Hayrack Ride Turns Truly Frightening in Maine

Halloween is a time for pumpkin patches, haunted houses, caramel apples, corn mazes, and hayrack rides, but for 22 people on a typical hayrack ride got a little more of a scare than they were bargaining for Sunday.
While on a typical hayrack ride at Harvest Hills Farm in Maine, a SUV pulling a hayrack of 22 people ages 15 and up were involved in a rather serious accident. The SUV pulling the group went down a very narrow dirt path, and ended up going off of the road, causing the trailer with everyone to jackknife and send them all into a tree. One girl was, age 17, was killed while two others were airlifted. The rest of the passengers were slightly injured to seriously injured.
The county sheriff is still investigating the incident, although they claim there was no alcohol involved. It’s also stated there are no particular licenses needed to haul a hayrack. The Harvest Hills Farm is still closed until the investigation is finalized.
So, are Halloween festivities maybe needing a few more guidelines and regulations to keep everyone safe? I mean, we all take part in those activities this time of year so are we taking a more of a risk than we know of? The people pulling us on tractors may not be the safest choice at times. Maybe there needs to be certain regulations put in place that aren’t too strict, but ensure the safety of everyone when it come to the small town pumpkin patch. I have never personally experienced anything that I would consider dangerous, but you never know. I someday don’t want to take my child and my wife on a hayrack ride and have to worry that the driver doesn’t maybe know what he’s doing. Or maybe he’s under the influence of something. We also can’t live our lives over worrying about things like that either. So it’s sort of a catch 22. Do we over worry about everything and set regulations, or do we keep it the same and carry on as we have for many years? Tough question, I know.
In this unfortunate event in Maine, I wish all of the friends and family of those involved, the best and send my prayers their way. And as for pumpkin patches, keep it safe. Avoid taking risks when it involves other’s lives. Happy October, enjoy the festivities in your area, but please be safe out there.
