Thanksgiving... What's That?
It's that time if year again. Halloween is fast approaching, my favorite holiday for anyone who was wondering, and it's my favorite for multiple reasons. But, that's not the point, the point is, fall is best time of year. The leaves turn, the air is crisper, the smell of fall, the feel of fall, the look of fall is amazing. But it's a bummer it doesn't last very long. I mean we go from warm Labor Day, to the chilliness of Halloween straight into... Christmas. That's right, I said Halloween to Christmas. It's true and you know it.
Where in the world did thanksgiving go? Why do we just totally leave out the month of November in general? I mean I know I'm not your typical girl who is all about the holidays. Don't get me wrong, they're fun, but I could do without them. But if we have these holidays, let's do it right. Let's celebrate Halloween in the month of October. Celebrate Thanksgiving in November and then Christmas in December. Instead of starting to celebrate these months three months before they are even here. I mean, if we are going to do that, then I'm going to start celebrating St. Patrick's Day the entire month of February and then all or March. Hell, I might continue celebrating St. Pats day into April.
Anyway, I'm just tired of seeing Christmas trees the day after Halloween. Well, actually some places have them up now. Sam's Club has had Christmas trees up all October long! I'm tired of walking into a store on November 1st and hearing "Jingle All the Way". Personally I can't handle this, so I just pretend it's not happening.
On top of Christmas getting in the way of Thanksgiving now we have stores opening their doors for Black Friday on Thursday, Thanksgiving day! Let some of these people enjoy their family time. I'm not just talking consumers, think about your workers. Let's not open on Thanksgiving at 5pm, that's just not ok. Since when did purchasing an over priced gift that your grandma is going to store in the closet anyway, become more important than actually spending time with her. I mean really, I know I'm not a big Holiday person, but have some respect and hold off on shopping and spend time with family. You can shop anytime, family doesn't live forever.
So, good job society! You win, next let's make Christmas almost year round! Hope you enjoy it. Now, I need to find where I put my earplugs so I have them for the unstop Christmas music.
