It’s Good to be Royal
Let’s go ahead and take a moment to discuss the buzz of
sports right now. While I usually stick to what’s going on in Hollywood, we
need to discuss an amazing miracle that is taking place in the world of
baseball. What is this miracle I speak of? Well, let me tell you, it has been
29 long years, but it’s finally happened, the Kansas City Royals have made it
to the 2014 playoffs.
Kansas City can now come out of 1985 and into the future of
baseball. The Royals haven’t been playing any old game of baseball either. They
have been putting up one hell of a fight for two games, and as I write this,
the beautiful sound of game three at Kauffman Stadium is playing in the background.
Let’s begin with the wild card game, the Royals had one
chance to make it to the playoffs, and they took it by storm. Extra innings against
the Oakland A’s, we weren’t sure if the Royals were going to pull it off, maybe
we were just going to have to be excited that they even made it that far, but
the Salvedor Prez came up to the plate and scored the winning run, sending the
struggling Royals to the playoffs.
Then we moved on to game 1 against Los Angeles Angels.
Angels started strong, but the Royals came back with a fight and tied up the
game. Once again, extra innings, a game late into a cold evening, but the
Royals came through. Mike Moustakas saved the game giving the Royals even more
momentum.
Game 2, we wondered if they could do it. Again, the Angels
came on strong in their home park, but the Royals held on, tying the game as
soon as they could, sending them into once again extra innings. Better be
carful boys, going to run out of pitchers going into extra innings all of the
time. The golden boy of game 2 would
have to be 1st baseman Eric Hosmer, taking the win for the blue.
Game 3, as I type this, Eric Hosmer hit a home run setting
the score 5 to 1 Royals. Royals fan are going crazy in their home stadium. Can
we do it? Can sweep the Angels on our home turf and get even closer to the World
Series? I think we can, I think after 29 years, it’s time these boys take the
World Series.
